Hello and welcome to my web site! I'm Susan Guzman: author, artist, designer, and editor.
With a varied background in banking, sales, and design, my true passion is art and design. I fell in love with quilting after joining an on-line quilt guild in 2004 and immediately participated in a variety of round robins to perfect my skills. In 2006, without ever using a pattern, I began to design quilts and realized how much I enjoyed the process of designing, writing, and publishing my patterns.
I've had the pleasure of working with many successful fabric companies in addition to creating freelance projects for Amy Butler Design, FreeSpirit Fabrics, Aurifil, PFAFF, Husqvarna/Viking, Parson Gray, and Moda Fabrics. Over the years, a great number of my quilt designs have been published in Asian Fabric (2008+), McCall's Quilting family of magazines (from 2009-2015), Quilter's Home, Keepsake Quilting, and Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks (block designs). I'm the author of All About Strips: Colorful Quilts from Strips of Many Sizes (Martingale, 2015) and wrote the patterns, wrote content, and made quilts for David Butler's book, Trade Quilts: 20 Rough-Hewn Projects (Chronicle Books, 2016).
After leading the staff of editors and artists of the McCall's Quilting family of magazines (McCall's Quilting, McCall's Quick Quilts, and McCall's Special Issues) as Content Director, I'm pleased to say that I'm back to sketching, designing, and creating!
