Hello and welcome to my web site! I'm Susan Guzman: author, artist, designer, and editor.
With a varied background that includes trust banking and equity trading, interior design, architectural sales and marketing, and managing an art gallery, my true passion is art and design. I fell in love with quilting after joining an online quilt guild in 2004 and immediately participated in a variety of round robins to perfect my skills. In 2006, without ever using a pattern, I began to design quilts and realized how much I enjoyed the process of designing, writing, and publishing my patterns.
I've had the pleasure of working with more than 12 successful fabric companies in addition to creating freelance projects for Amy Butler Design, FreeSpirit, Aurifil, PFAFF, Husqvarna/Viking, and Parson Gray. Over the years, a great number of my quilt designs have been published in Asian Fabric (2008+), McCall's Quilting family of magazines (from 2009-2015), Quilter's Home, Keepsake Quilting, and Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks (block designs).
In January, 2012, I completed with honors the digital design program through The Art Institute of Pittsburgh's online division. With these skills, I hope to explore new aspects of design within the quilting and home decor markets.
After proudly heading McCall's Quilting and Quick Quilts as Content Director, from May 2014 through August 2015, I'm pleased to say that I'm back to sketching, designing, and creating!
